Mit der Entscheidung, die Produktion der Spitzenprodukte der Kollektion zum Teil wieder nach Europa und zum Teil nach Italien zurückzubringen, sind wir Vorreiter des Reshorings der Fertigung, das unter dem wirtschaftlichen, umweltrelevanten und sozialen Gesichtspunkt bedeutende Auswirkungen auf die Nachhaltigkeit mit sich bringt. Denn wir bringen den Entstehungsort der Kleidungsstücke dem Verbraucher, der sie tragen wird, näher. Wir haben beschlossen, die Stückfärbung der Kleidungsstücke aufzugeben und so Wasserverbrauch und -verschmutzung erheblich verringert. Unsere Färbereien arbeiten vollumfänglich nach den höchsten Standards und unter Einsatz zertifizierter Farbstoffe und des besten Abwassermanagements.
Gewebe aus recycelten Rohstoffen Zur Verringerung der Umweltbelastung verpflichtet sich SLAM, bei der Herstellung seiner Kleidungsstücke viele Gewebe zu verwenden, die aus Fasern hergestellt sind, die aus dem Recycling von Kunststoffflaschen, Fischernetzen und Industrieabfällen stammen. Während Kunststoff sich für viele als eines der gravierendsten Probleme des Planeten zu entpuppen scheint, ist es für andere eine unglaubliche Ressource, von der ausgehend umweltfreundliche Projekte entwickelt werden können. Recycling bedeutet Einsparung von Rohstoffen, Energie, Wasser und Eindämmung der Treibhausgasemissionen. Es wird geschätzt, dass von den 480.000 Tonnen produziertem PET nur 140.000 wiederverwertet werden, der Rest endet direkt auf der Müllhalde. Dank der Technologie ist es heute möglich, hochmoderne Textilfasern zu erzielen, indem die Abfälle sowohl von Pre-Consumer- als auch von Post-Consumer-Kunststoff verwendet werden. Mit einer komplexen chemischen und mechanischen Verarbeitung wird der Kunststoff aus Flaschen, Fischernetzen sowie Industrieabfällen zu Polyesterspänen zerkleinert und durch Schmelzen in Granulat verwandelt, um dann zu Fasern extrudiert und später versponnen zu werden. Forschungen haben ergeben, dass die Produktion von Fasern aus recycelten Post-Consumer-Abfällen 75 % weniger Wasser sowie 47 % weniger Energie erfordert und 55 % weniger Emissionen im Vergleich zu Fasern verursacht, die aus Originalrohstoffen auf Erdölbasis erzeugt werden.
Die Baumwolle, aus der unsere T-Shirts, Polo- und Sweatshirts hergestellt werden, stammt aus ökologischem Anbau, der die Umweltbelastung und die Nachfrage an Energiequellen verringert. Bio-Baumwolle ist die umweltfreundliche Alternative zu herkömmlicher Baumwolle. Sie wird mit umweltfreundlichen Methoden und Produkten angebaut und für ihren Anbau werden biologische Systeme zum Düngen des Bodens verwendet, die den Einsatz von giftigen chemischen Pestiziden und Düngemitteln vermeiden, die sowohl in der Umwelt als auch in der Baumwolle selbst verbleiben. Denn die chemischen Verbindungen bleiben in den Fasern auch nach dem Waschen erhalten und können Wasserverschmutzung verursachen. Die Verwendung von Bio-Baumwolle verringert außerdem auch das Risiko von Allergien und Hautausschlägen. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) ist die von allen wichtigsten internationalen Märkten anerkannte Zertifizierung, die die Verwendung von aus biologischen Anbau stammenden Fasern bescheinigt.
Für die Herstellung unserer Hosen aus Baumwolle haben wir Materialien mit BCI-Zertifizierung gewählt. BCI ist die wichtigste weltweite Nachhaltigkeitsinitiative für Baumwolle, deren Mission darin besteht, den Baumwollgemeinschaften dabei zu helfen, zu überleben und zu gedeihen und dabei die Umwelt zu schützen und zu regenerieren. BCI hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Baumwollproduktion in aller Welt umzuwandeln und die negativen Auswirkungen des Anbaus und der Verarbeitung von Baumwolle zu bekämpfen. BCI fördert ständige Verbesserungen, die für die Umwelt, die landwirtschaftlichen Gemeinschaften und die Wirtschaft der jeweiligen Baumwollproduktionsgebiete messbar sind. Zehn Jahre nach Beginn des Programms wird fast ein Viertel der Baumwolle weltweit bereits nach den Better Cotton Standards hergestellt und bestätigt, dass die Welt nicht nur Baumwolle, sondern bessere Baumwolle will. Das Programm zielt darauf ab, die Treibhausgassemissionen pro Tonne von Better Cotton bis 2030 um 50 % zu senken.
Es ist allseits bekannt, dass eine der gefährlichsten und invasivsten Quellen von Wasserverschmutzung die Freisetzung von Mikrokunststoffpartikeln während des Waschens von Mikrofasern ist, die auch in die Nahrungskette gelangen. Das Engagement von SLAM besteht darin, diesem Problem abzuhelfen und in Pontetorto hat es den idealen Partner gefunden, der seine Anstrengungen auf die Forschung zur Lösung des Problems konzentriert hat. Biopile ist das erste Fleece-Gewebe, das die endgültige Lösung für das Problem des Mikroplastiks anbietet.
