Avec la décision de ramener en partie en Europe et en partie en Italie la production des produits haut de gamme de la collection, nous sommes des acteurs de la relocalisation de la fabrication qui génère un impact durable important d’un point de vue économique, environnemental et social. Nous avons décidé d’éliminer la teinture dans le vêtement en réduisant sensiblement la consommation et la pollution des eaux, nos teintureries opèrent dans le plein respect des normes les plus élevées avec l’utilisation de colorants certifiés et la meilleure gestion des eaux rejetées.
Tissus de matières premières recycléesPour réduire l’impact environnemental, SLAM s’engage à utiliser pour réaliser ses vêtements de nombreux tissus produits avec des fibres provenant du recyclage de bouteilles en plastique, de filets de pêche et de déchets industriels. Si pour de nombreuses personnes le plastique devient l’un des problèmes les plus graves pour la planète, pour d’autres c’est une ressource incroyable, qui permet de développer des projets écologiques. Recycler signifie économiser les matières premières, l’énergie, l’eau, et réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre. On estime que sur les 480 mille tonnes de PET produites, seules 140 mille sont récupérées, le reste finissant directement en décharge. Grâce à la technologie, il est aujourd’hui possible d’obtenir des fibres de tissu d'avant-garde en utilisant les déchets de plastique pré-consommation et post-consommation. Avec un travail chimique et mécanique complexe, le plastique des bouteilles, des filets de pêche et des déchets industriels est réduit en flocons de polyester et transformé en granulés par fusion pour être ensuite extrudé en fibres puis filé. Les recherches ont démontré que la production de fibres à partir de déchets recyclés post-consommation nécessite 75 % d’eau en moins, 47 % d’énergie en moins et génère 55 % d’émissions en moins par rapport aux fibres produites à partir de la matière première originale à base de pétrole.
Le coton avec lequel nos T-shirt, nos polos et nos sweat-shirts sont réalisés provient de cultures écologiques qui réduisent l’impact environnemental et la demande de ressources énergétiques. Le coton biologique ou organique est l’alternative écologique au coton traditionnel, c’est le coton cultivé avec des méthodes et des produits ayant un faible impact environnemental. Pour sa production, des systèmes de production biologique sont utilisés pour fertiliser le sol, éliminant l’utilisation de pesticides et d’engrais chimiques toxiques persistants tant dans l’environnement que dans le coton même. En effet, les composés chimiques résistent dans les fibres même après les lavages et peuvent polluer les eaux. En outre, l’utilisation du coton organique réduit aussi le risque d’allergies et d’éruptions cutanées. La certification GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), reconnue par tous les principaux marchés internationaux, atteste l’utilisation de fibres naturelles provenant de l’agriculture biologique.
Pour la production de nos pantalons en coton, nous avons choisi des matières certifiées BCI, principale initiative mondiale de durabilité pour le coton, dont la mission vise à aider les communautés du coton à survivre et prospérer en protégeant et en restaurant l’environnement. BCI vise à transformer la production de coton dans le monde entier, en combattant les impacts négatifs de la culture et de la fabrication du coton. BCI promeut les améliorations continues mesurables pour l'environnement, les communautés agricoles et les économies des zones de production de coton. Dix ans après le début du programme, près d’un quart du coton mondial est déjà produit selon le Better Cotton Standard, confirmant que le monde ne veut pas seulement du coton mais un meilleur coton. Le programme vise d’ici 2030 à réduire de 50 % les émissions de gaz à effet de serre par tonne de Better Cotton produit.
Tout le monde sait que l’une des sources les plus dangereuses et invasives de pollution des eaux est la libération de microplastiques, pendant les lavages de microfibres, qui entrent aussi dans le cycle alimentaire. L’engagement de SLAM vise à contribuer à réduire ce problème et a trouvé en Pontetorto le partenaire idéal qui a concentré ses efforts sur la recherche de la solution au problème. Biopile est le premier tissu en polaire qui offre la solution définitive au problème des microplastiques.
